The Pie Place was started by my husband, Nathan, and me (Kendra).
I grew up learning to cook from my mother at a very young age, and though I have had no formal training, I have inherited her instinctual abilities and confidence in the kitchen, and I love to create, modify and experiment. I have spent many years cooking for large groups of teenagers, (a hard group to please 🙂 ) and I very much enjoy the role of feeding and nourishing people, and the challenge of creating food that is both delicious, and good for you. It has been a recent idea to turn this love of providing into a small enterprise.
Nathan and I both grew up homeschooled, and in his case, this has instilled a strong curiosity and desire to make things, and figure out how things work. He has put this to good work on this project, both designing and doing the actual work remodeling the trailer that is to become our mobile kitchen (with lots of help and mentoring, of course). He is also the oven master in our kitchen. I build ‘em, he cooks ‘em. It has worked out well so far. 😉
Wahhhh, I wanna live there! Alas, I am stuck in Chicago, would love to be able to order your stuff!
This totally cool!! Bringing great pizza to the masses is a wondrous thing!!!! We just completed a Cob wood fired pizza and bread oven here at Blue Heron Knoll in Southern Nevada County over the July 4th weekend and have fired it a grand total of three times in the past two weeks. Fabulous pizza and the best bread either of us has ever baked, and we have both been baking bread for over 30 years!!!! Hopefully we will see you at other events here in Nevada County. Good on you!!!!
Peace & Joy,
Josh Lichterman, Ph.D.
